Welcome to the Public Health Division at the City of Berkeley, CA. We are part of the Department of Health Services.
The Berkeley Public Health Division is made up of public health nurses, community outreach workers, health educators, health care providers, and other public health professionals. We are all committed to eliminating health inequities in Berkeley. We provide direct services for individuals and families and work together to address the social, educational, economic, and environmental inequities that affect health. The Public Health Division works to ensure the health and well being of all Berkeley residents and believes that every person in Berkeley has the right to good health.

The One & Only Campaign - The One & Only Campaign is a public health campaign, led by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Safe Injection Practices Coalition (SIPC), to raise awareness among patients and healthcare providers about safe injection practices. National Prescription Drug-Take Back Day is Saturday, April 28 - Residents can come to Berkeley's Public Safety Building and safely and anonymously dispose of all unused, unneeded and expired prescription medications. This is a national prescription drug take-back program which enables the public to safely dispose of medication-- especially those drugs which may not be accepted back by pharmacies.
Turning in old medication reduces the risk of accidental poisoning, overdose, theft and abuse, and prevents dangerous chemicals from entering the environment. Drop off is anonymous, fast and easy. [more...]
Tdap (Whooping Cough) Vaccine School Requirement - All 7th-12th graders are now required to get a whooping cough shot/booster (also known as “Tdap”) before starting the 2011-2012 school year. Parents should contact their health care provider to find out if their child needs the “Tdap” vaccine. If you do not have a regular health care provider, the vaccine is offered at select times at the City of Berkeley’s Public Health Clinic and Berkeley High. Times and details are available below.
