  Recommendation: Conduct a public hearing and upon conclusion, adopt a Resolution adopting a mitigated negative declaration and approving Use Permit 01-10000085 to: a) demolish an existing commercial structure, b) construct a four-story 40,171 square foot mixed-use building with 40 dwelling units above 3,620 square feet of retail space at 2517 Sacramento Street in the C-SA (South Area Commercial) Zoning District, and c) dismissing the appeal.

Action: Moved, seconded, carried (Armstrong/Olds; Noes – Hawley) to continue the public hearing to May 21, 2002 for the limited purposes of taking comment on any new proposals or modification of proposals to the project and for Council action on the project and to refer to the City Manager direction to attempt mediation with the applicant and the neighborhood on issues related to the height and consideration of whether or not to include commercial floor space.
