Echo Lake Camp is accepting applications for Summer 2014.
Employment Application with Supplemental Questionnaire
Echo Lake Camp is located in South Lake Tahoe atop a 7,400 foot ridge overlooking the Tahoe Basin. Camp programs include the Berkeley Sierra Family Camp, Youth Resident Camp, Counselors-In-Training (CIT), 50+ Camp, Pre-K Family Weekend, Teen Retreat, and a number of private group rentals. The Summer 2014 season runs from June 15th through September 3rd. Mandatory Staff Training is June 15th-21st.
Echo Lake Camp Openings
Camp Staff Member
$40-$60 Daily Rate
As a Camp Staff Member you will work directly with individuals or groups of campers, serve as a role model, assist with camp administration, participate in campfire programs, staff shows and special events, help prepare and serve meals and/or assist Camp Staff Leaders on hikes, group games and other outings. You will be provided with room and board while at camp.
$45 Starting Daily Rate
Lifeguards are responsible for providing a safe and fun aquatic experience for our campers. Trained lifeguards are expected to provide surveillance and injury prevention strategies, appropriately respond in emergency situations; providing standard lifeguard care until the nurse or other higher trained personnel arrive. Lifeguard duties include swim tests for youth campers, canoe trips on Echo Lake, swimming pool guarding, lake guarding at Echo Lake, supervision of water polo and other aquatic games, injury reporting, basic pool maintenance, and other duties as assigned.
$60-$90 Daily Rate
The certified Camp Nurse or EMT is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe Nurse's station and providing high quality care for ill or injured campers and staff. He or she maintains records and administers medications to minors and must be available to help manage emergencies. The position is a 24 hour on call situation while campers are on site, without specific office hours. A typical summer season runs from late June to the end of August or early September. This position may be filled in weekly increments or, preferably, for the entire season.
Camp Staff Leader
$60-$95 Daily Rate
As a Camp Staff Leader you will interact with all campers, serve as a role model for campers and staff, assist in the coordination of campfire programs, staff shows and special events, help coordinate meal services, serve as a Camp Cook, and/or lead hikes and other outings. Some staff may oversee a small crew, working in an organized group. You will be provided with room and board while at camp.
Camp Staff Supervisor
$95-$135 Daily Rate
This position supervises the daily operation of a department in one or more of the functions that are essential to the effective operation of a City Recreational Summer Camp including but not limited to; administration, maintenance, food service and recreation. This position is responsible for staff supervision and the overall management of the different camp departments. This position is responsible for the successful implementation of their department’s work and may require filling staff’s job duties as needed. You will be provided with room and board while at camp.

Examples include: babysitting jobs, youth coaching experience, leadership camps, youth mentoring programs, etc. If you have any questions about what is appropriate, feel free to contact us.
In the “Relevant licenses, certificates, or training” portion of the City’s application you want to list all relevant certificates that apply to the job. Examples include: First Aid and CPR, Lifeguard, WSI, etc.

Negative TB Test Result: Candidates under serious consideration must provide proof of a recent negative T.B. Test prior the beginning of the program.
Identification: Federal law requires that prior to employment, applicants must furnish proof of identity and eligibility for employment in the United States. Proof may be furnished by various documents such as Social Security Card (original), birth certificate, driver’s license/CA I.D., passport, etc.
Fingerprinting: California state law requires that all recreation employees and volunteers having direct contact, supervisory or disciplinary authority over minors be fingerprinted as a condition of employment. Candidates under serious consideration for hire will be referred for fingerprinting. Employment is contingent upon fingerprint results.
CPR/ First Aid/ AED certification: All summer 2014 staff must be in possession of a current CPR/ First Aid/ AED certification from the American Heart Association or other recognized certificate provider.
Safe Food Handler’s Certification: Any and all staff members with kitchen duties or food service responsibilities must possess a valid Safe Food Handler’s Certification, according to California state law.
Minimum Age Requirement: Any staff working in the role of Camp Counselor must be at least 18 years of age OR a high school graduate.
Candidates under the age of 18 will require a work permit.
