The City of Berkeley has 52 parks, which provide traditional activities such as athletic fields, swimming pools, tennis and basketball courts, as well as numerous tot and school age play areas, community gardens, rock climbing and a variety of water sports at the Berkeley Marina. Picnic, Weddings, and other Facility Use Permits
You can rent space for a wedding, a picnic area for a family or company picnic or park or open space for special events at several of our beautiful parks. For detailed information on the parks or facility rentals, please check the following link:
You must go to the Recreation Office at 1947 Center St., 1st Floor, in person to apply for the facility use permit. For information call (510) 981-5150.

Capital Improvement Projects - Construction and Project Planning/Design
Park improvements focus on direct benefits to the users and future sustainability. These improvements include replacement of hazardous play equipment; parks furniture improvement; improvements to existing playing fields for increased youth sports opportunities; basic infrastructure improvements, including rehabilitation of sports courts, lighting, eroded walkways and renovations to irrigation systems; and the community involved parks mini-grant program.
