16-10997-C - FY 2016 Drainage and Valley Gutter Improvements

Scope of Work (Base Bid):
The work done under these specifications includes but is not limited to: traffic control, removal of existing asphalt concrete, removal of existing cross drains and salvaging of appurtenances, installation of cross drains, storm drains, catch basins, junction boxes, storm drain manholes, regrading intersections, hot mix asphalt, aggregate base, concrete valley gutter, curb, sidewalk, and curb ramps, detectable warning surfaces, and pavement markings. Base Bid work is located as described below. All work shall be performed in accordance with these plans and specifications.

Deductive Alternate Scope of Work:

Deductive Alternate No. 1 - Replace cross drain system with valley gutter at intersection of Curtis Street and Francisco Street.

Deductive Alternate No. 2 - Replace cross drain system with valley gutter at intersection of Jones Street and Tenth Street.

California Contractor License Classification required: A - General Engineering

Mandatory Pre-Bid Conference: The City will conduct a Mandatory Pre-bid Conference on February 1, 2016 at 10:30AM at the City’s Engineering Offices located at 1947 Center Street, 4th Floor, Berkeley, CA 94704.

The February 1, 2016 pre-bid meeting is hereby changed from mandatory to non-mandatory. A second non-mandatory Pre-bid meeting will be held on February 9, 2016 at 11:00 AM, in the City of Berkeley Offices, 1947 Center Street, 4th Floor, Berkeley, CA 94704. No new information beyond that covered in the February 1, 2016 meeting will be presented.

Duration:

Work is anticipated to begin in May 2016. The number of working days allowed for the base bid project is 105 working days. The Contractor will be allowed to work at up to two (2) sites simultaneously. Work shall be substantially completed at the two sites before beginning work at the next sites.

The work areas in the base bid are located at:

Location A – Intersection of Sixth Street and Hearst Avenue
Location B – Intersection of Curtis Street and Francisco Street
Location C – Intersection of Jones Street and Tenth Street
Location D – Intersection of Stuart Street and California Street
Location E – Intersection of Bancroft Way and Bolivar Drive
Location F – Intersection of Cragmont Avenue and Regal Road, and portion of 1000 block of Cragmont Avenue.

There are two (2) Revocable Deductive Alternate locations:

Deductive Alternate No. 1 - Location B - Curtis Street and Francisco Street
Deductive Alternate No. 2 - Location C - Jones Street and Tenth Street

16-11005 - PRW Facilities and Forestry Concrete Work

Scope of Work: The scope of services shall include, but is not limited to, work similar to that presented below. The work will be conducted at a number of designated locations within the City of Berkeley. The project consists of the following items: (a) The demolition, disposal and replacement of four (4) concrete slab-on-grade existing Frisbee golf tee boxes and the addition of a new concrete slab-on-grade Frisbee golf tee box located along the eastern shoreline of Aquatic Park in Berkeley, California. (b) The concrete cutting, demolition, removal, dispostal and soil preparations for numerous designated tree planting locations throughout the City of Berkeley, California. See Appendix A for the full Scope of Work.

California Contractor License Classification required: A - General Engineering or C-8 - Concrete Contractor.

(b) Approximately sixty-one (61) separate locations within the City of Berkeley (see address list in Appendix A).
