FACILITIES MANAGEMENT
Information on major building projects sponsored by the City of Berkeley and managed by the Facilities Management Division.
The Facilities Management Division has the responsibility for managing and coordinating major building projects sponsored by the City of Berkeley. Principal projects have included the project management of the Public Safety Building, Civic Center Building retrofit, the Interstate 80 Pedestrian Overpass, the purchase and renovation of 1947 Center Street for city offices, and the replacement of Fire Station No. 7 with an earthquake resistant structure and improved access. In addition, the Division serves as a resource and support unit for other divisions, departments and City agencies engaged in large complex non-traditional capital projects.
Current projects include construction of a new Animal Shelter, accessibility improvements to various City facilities, and relocation of employees, development of a site plan, and a funding mechanism to address seismic upgrade of the City's Corporation Yard.
