BERKELEY NOW TAKING PASSPORT APPLICATIONS
Berkeley, California (Thursday, September 19, 2013) - The Berkeley City Clerk now accepts U.S. passport applications, helping fill a particular need for a globally connected city.
Nearly 70 percent of Berkeleyans hold a passport – compared to 39 percent nationally. The demand meant that even with limited access to passport facilities in Berkeley, approximately 7,000 U.S. passports have been issued in this city each year.
The City Clerk’s department, recognizing the issue, saw that it could open a passport facility central to Berkeley and open with regular hours. Located on the first floor of 2180 Milvia Street, the Berkeley City Clerk’s passport office accepts applications on behalf of the U.S. Department of State. We are open from 8:30 am to 3 pm daily, except for the second Friday of every month. If you prefer an appointment to walking in, call 510-981-6900. We also take and process passport photos on-site for $10 a set, making our office a one-stop resource for U.S. passport needs.
