Green Business Certification Program

The City of Berkeley is a major funder of the The Bay Area Green Business Program for services in Berkeley.

 

Through its industry specific environmental checklist, the Green Business Program educates small business owners about environmental measures that can reduce costs for energy, water and solid waste.  The program certifies and promotes businesses that have met rigorous standards of environmental performance. 

The number of green certified businesses in Berkeley has grown from 10 in 2000 to over 170 as of 2011. Green certified businesses include auto repair shops, grocers, printers, dentists and more. There are over 60 Green Certified restaurants.
