East Bay Green Corridor Partnership

The East Bay Green Corridor Partnership (Green Corridor) consists of eight cities, two world class research institutions and three cutting edge regional educational systems. It was formed in December 2007 to facilitate joint regional efforts to establish the East Bay as a global center of the emerging green economy. The East Bay has long traditions of both entrepreneurship and environmental policy innovation.  The region has also developed strong existing clusters of green businesses centered around large institutions engaged in cutting edge environmental research and green/clean-tech development. The thirteen Green Corridor partners recognize that markets in labor, land and venture capital are larger than any single jurisdiction, and that by acting together the partners can maximize the regional potential for policy development, innovation and entrepreneurship that will help lead the green economy.

Key goals of the Green Corridor include:

  1. Attract and retain green businesses.
  2. Promote research and technology transfer
  3. Strengthen workforce development programs
  4. Secure federal funding for job training and energy research

Under the guidance of Professor Karen Chapple, Associate Professor of City Planning at the University of California, Berkeley, the Corridor engaged graduate students to map the assets in the East Bay region that contribute to the development of the green economy.  Their extensive findings are available at and cover topics such as regional polices, best practices, company listings and asset maps.

Initiatives of the Green Corridor are managed by Carla Din, the Project Director. The East Bay Economic Development Alliance acts as the fiscal sponsor for this regional effort.  If you have questions about the Green Corridor, please contact us at
